Corvettes are hunks of stuffty american plastic. If you want a "fast" car get something non-domestic.

the corvette (the Z06 for example) generates 500-600 horsepower. if that's not fast, then nothing is.
plus, name another great sports car that has up to 30mpg and is affordable.
even then, "non-domestic" cars are shipped to the US and put through after-market, making them worse in performance anyway. unless he ordered one straight from the country of origin, which would cost him significantly more if he wants to avoid after-market.

yes. I would suggest the C5 if you're looking for something sporty, comfortable, and good on fuel economy.
it's carbon fiber frame and aluminum alloy body make it lightweight and fast, which also explains it's 30mpg; less weight, less work for the engine. oh wait, that's the Z06, sorry.
C5 is a hydroformed frame of metal. it is still considerably light however.
