AMD tends to make unreliable processors.
Maybe more recently, but the Phenom II's are still really good.

I put this in my microcenter cart with the 3570k and it actually dropped $50. holy stuff. i think getting a better motherboard is more important than SSD right now. is the mobo i linked up here any good/compatible?

My AMD card always crashed.

because intel. :3Someone found me a 120gb SSD. Check OP I'm updating it now.

The question still stands; do I need a better mobo/case? Also feel free to offer Z77s now because supposedly when bundled with my processor on microcenter they're 50$ off.
You definitely need a better mobo to support the card and cpu. case is fine though unless you want it to look good.

very much so. btw get everything microcenter and it'll drop down 200 like i said lol

Found a cheaper mobo.

yeah i'm gonna see what else i can do on microcenter.
I found a cheaper mobo that seems to be exactly the same as the one I linked, besides amount of eSATA. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-p8z77vlx

Do any of you think the cpu will bottle-neck? You should get a SSD instead I'm pretty sure there less money but you get less storage? Unless they made the higher memory ones cheaper. Plus a SSD makes your startup and shutdown so much faster go see a video of it.

Beta/nightly/conflicting drivers can cause this. Also, defective video cards are rare but lead to crashes.

SSDs have a short lifetime, get a hybrid HDD

Yeah I'm looking for a better mobo right now. :P

brother my AMD Phenom 8400 hasn't broken or crashed

AMD tends to make unreliable processors.
Mostly because AMD waits for Intel to release their new processor so they can take it apart and try to make it better. They do the same thing to Nvidia.

This is cheaper than my current GPU. (by about $50) It's the same kind (7970) but by a different manufacturer. Worth it?

Or maybe I should just go back to GTX 670. :I

Go with Nvidia GTX 670, for reals.  That's what I have and it's great.

Otherwise my new computer is pretty similar.

you're handicapped
if that was to happen then AMD processors would be much better than intel
because AMD actually makes quality processors for the cheaper builds, a phenom x4 is actually great for its price
also any source?
oh yeah and that's why nvidia 6xx series released later than some of the AMD 7xxx series

Totally considering it. Cheaper, may give me capability to get a new mobo.

By using microcenter for my cpu/mobo I can save $50. yesss

Stop arguing about AMD, guys. You're not going to sway anyone and it's off topic. :I

that video card is just nuts
It is like a 25% performance increase for a 100%+ price increase compared to slightly less high end stuff.
