What is it?

This is a, I believe, 4-part series on the History Channel about men like Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and J.P. Morgan. It's a narrated film that's almost like a movie that covers important events in the expansion of railroads, the oil industry, and the mass-production of steel; hence "the men who built America." The time span this show covers is the 1860s-1890s.

It's a really good show, and if you haven't seen it, you really should. For the people who may have seen it, what do you think?

It's about the men who made america the way it is today mostly

Pretty sure that happens with almost all film portrayals of real people.

It's called the men who built America, not the men who founded America.

so is thomas edison in there?
He didn't build any infrastructure, Just invented and built smaller things later then the series is set.

pretty sure electricity is a big part of america...

Pretty sure that happens with almost all film portrayals of real people.

i know, but there should at least be a few similarities

this guy actually looks more like Mitt Romney than Rockefeller

pretty sure electricity is a big part of america...
Yeah no stuff, it's big everywhere, but this is the stuff that made America different from every other nation at the time.

pretty sure electricity is a big part of america...
But he didn't build the infrastructure which is what I think the series is mostly about (And it's set before his time)

Although I haven't actually watched it nor read much about it, So I could be wrong.

there has to be Abraham Lincoln, correct?

pretty sure electricity is a big part of america...
It is, but Darkness is right when he says a lot of it has to do with wealthy industrialists owning monopolies. Edison didn't monopolize anything.

there has to be Abraham Lincoln, correct?
All of this happens following the Civil War.

vs.
really does no one see this

+edison and tesla are both in this show

it's about people who own monopolies so they can forget up the idea of equal opportunities

They started corporations, I know they're all starfishs but they are what made the US the way it is today
