I have the "old" layout still.
Although it seems like the "new" layout doesn't seem too good since it has crap ton of white space on the side.

I have not seen an update to Youtube's layout in the last three and a half years. I feel like maybe it just uses a 'complex' layout when it can and reverts to a 'simple' layout if it can't, and some peoples' computers are just on the edge of the requirement boundary so it keeps switching back and forth for them.
