Roughly how much RAM do you expect for $50 a month

Roughly how much RAM do you expect for $50 a month
I was getting 3gb so that's the minimum, but to be fair I've seen up to 5gb in places.

Also it's funny how the entire IT industry is moving away from dedicated resources in favour of virtualised, guess everyone is inexperienced.
You're putting words in my mouth. I'm calling you inexperienced, not "an entire industry". You're also definitely misrepresenting the "entire IT industry" by saying it's doing that.

$50/month will get him a whole 1.5GB from Linode!!!

First company that comes to mind is ThrustVPS, have used before, would recommend as a budget offering. ~$54/mo gets you 4GB with Xen hypervizor. Definitely stay away from OpenVZ if you intend to use the memory you pay for.

I mean there's hosts like server4you that have 4gb ram and other things for like 38$ a month. And ovh which is about the same.
I mean 50 dollars was kinda more of an absolute maximum, I'd much rather be paying like 35-45 dollars.

You get what you pay for tbh. The more you pay the better support and network stability you get. Ignore what Kalph says about Server4You, they're terrible. If you're looking at Europe going straight to Hetzner wouldn't be a bad idea. Avoid OVH entirely.

Didn't mention Server4You specifically, not that it's a bad idea anyway. You call them terrible because your competition uses it, lol. I mentioned Server4You in the same way I mentioned OVH, even though I would definitely choose almost anything over OVH based on reviews.

Just put "server4you review" into Google, they're probably worse reviewed than OVH.

Bad experience - no support - no refund

Server4You was good for a long while but the last months its really worse. This week I had at least 15 hours of downtime, blaiming me but the problem was their own host system. Toke really long to response and get someone to work to get it fixed.

Decided to leave this company and wanted a refund or something, because I had really long downtime. No, 0, nada. Bye. Worse be warned, don't get your important projects hosted here!

Better service from an ant

I had one late payment, though i had informed them well in advance and they agreed to it. However when the day came for me to make my payment i noticed the payment options were not available (either server down or they just disable them in late payments, why? you would have to ignore common sense to understand). So after emailing them saying payment is ready and receiving no reply my server was shut down the very next day. So i went to their live chat, made the payment only to hear "our sync server is undergoing maintenance and it should be 5-6 hours." This made me a little angry as i am a web developer and have work to do and i need a live environment to properly test (http request times and such). So after waiting the 5-6 hours..... nothing. Thinking something might of went wrong on boot i initialize a restart through their system. Then about an hour later......nothing. At this point im kinda ticked so i email them and get a somewhat fast reply saying i just initiated restart 3 mins ago (um over an hour) and am asked to wait. So because its late i go to bed, wake up and........ nothing. At this point we start an email battle them asking dumb questions that have nothing to do with it and me replying with all they ask, the whole process takes a week before they finally figure out "oh it just needs to be rebooted" (it was already rebooted twice and the Mtr showed their router down). So i finally get my server back after a week (not being able to test my code as well) and i proceed to demand a free month due to it being on their end this all happened. They proceed to say that i failed to use the ticket system properly and replied to them late (its My time not theirs, I Am The Customer, that and we are across the world they reply while i sleep and take 2 days sometimes themselves). So in the end i told them I am going to write this review and that they can cancel my services for next month (if they say anything about that or try to charge me there is gonna be hell to pay).

I love how one of the posts on Web Hosting Talk is titled "a non-terrible review of Server4You", clearly that's a rare thing haha. Even Kalph himself posted on WHT about their stuffty network dropping packets with no explanation from them. No idea why you'd suggest them to someone, sure a dire waste of money.

I mean I don't really need support if I have a server.
But apparently I won't have that either.

So yeah, any other suggestions?

edit:
The card I've been trying to use to buy the server hasn't been working, could be as late as tuesday the 1st before anything's up again.
And yes, we've lost all the maps to every game, terraria, vinalla, tekkit, etc.
Hopefully though I'll be able to buy like 6 months at a time of hosting to try to have a long period of time of guarenteed uptime.

The tekkit server will be up by Tuesday?

Hopefully.
Between this and my computer crashing I'm surprised I haven't given up on this.
