Ran sulfer spider shadow mission hardmode last night with some friends for daily and to try and get me dexterity enchant. It was the most fun I've had in a shadow mission in a long time. Didn't get it, but a friend got the knuckle enchant he was looking for. Going to be running it again tonight.
Late responses are late, BUT
Looking at the videos, guns seem to be more close-range than anything. In fact, they might be polar opposites. (bows require aiming for each shot, guns require no aiming; bows provide a decent amount of stun + knockback from magnum shot, guns provide next to no stun; etc. etc.)

My friend said that when Fighter was coming everyone was saying it was going to replace melee, then OH LOOK IT HAS NO AOE.
