Are we still arguing about simple arithmetic?

yes

Could you backwards multiply to get the answer like I just did?

x/2 = 20

20 * 2 = 40

40/2 = 20

20 = 20

Is this correct?
no, here is the best way to solve it (imo) because i didn't see it on the first or last page

x/2 = 20
multiply both sides of the equation by 2 to get rid of the division sign. Note that doing the same thing to both sides will not affect the answer in a problem like this.
Then you have:
(x/2)*2 = 20*2
multiply the stuff out
you end up with
x = 40

Are we still arguing about simple arithmetic?
Of course, it's not like we have anything better to do

"Half of X is 20.. what is X?"

"HELP!"

ITT: handicaps fight over how to solve for X in the simplest of equations

gg 10/10 A++

no its not
the answer is x=40

x/2 = 20
x/2 * 2 = 20 * 2
x = 40
... what?

yes it is right.  he simplified "40/2" into "20".  idk why anyone would really need to do that but it works.

Could you backwards multiply to get the answer like I just did?
...that's what I meant with "yes."
