Author Topic: making a TDM, thoughts?  (Read 1634 times)

so i had gotten the idea of a TDM where the entire floor is just a trampoline
it's a really silly idea, but it could be fun - or maybe just really difficult
i've started making it but the "arena" is very bland:

- has it been done before?
- does it sound fun, and would you play it if improved?
- what should i add to the arena?
- should i change the weapon? currently it's just the default sword
- should i have the day cycle on or off?
- when the floor is touched, it adds 35 velocity up, should this be changed?
- anything else?
and this is the very very very very first concept of the build - i may just redo it altogether. i just made it now as an example

it's mainly just a placeholder
i only had default weapons disabled at the time of making this so i just threw it there

- anything else? seriously this is like bouncy final destination. i know i make that comparison a lot when i compare things to things i don't like, but seriously this is a completely level surface with the only interesting thing being that everyone bounces all the time

This is a good idea.

You need to, (especially if you're going to keep a plain square battlefield), add more obstacles that are both stuck on the ground as well as ones in the air.
Something that will allow you more tact in fighting than just to run at each other and jump around.


Perhaps add walls and things in random locations which when touched will bounce you away from them, or anything else like that.
Try turning it from being more than just a trampoline TDM, into say, a Jelly Arena TDM. Everything you can touch (perhaps not spawns) will bounce you around.

Clutter it up and such, and then players can bounce around the area using that as an advantage to attack each other.
You could even event it so that some obstacles appear and disappear randomly (or on a timer, rather), so that the battlefield is constantly changing.


It's up to you, you just need to add more content to it so that it's more than a very open/plain bouncey battlefield.

On the idea of Jelly arena, or even just trampoline, have you considered eventing it so that projectiles bounce off of walls/floors/ceilings/obstacles?
I've never seen this incorporated much before.
Could be interesting and allow for more variety and mayhem in killing each other.


It's a huge black box, you could add literally anything and it would look better.
