Of course Local IP's change, when the computer is shut off, like if the power goes out.
Hasn't seem to have done that to me yet, with the couple power outages we've had a few weeks back.

I'm not nessacarily saying you're wrong, but this stuff isn't happening to me;my external IP is always changing, but my local hasn't in forever

Weird, my local IP changes all the time. You sure your local never changes? How many devices do you have in your house, and did you set your IP static?

I'm absolutely sure, as of recent. It has done it before, but as of now it isn't recent.
somewhere around 6-8 devices
I don't recall ever having too. My external IP changes so often I doubt it is static.

Either your really lucky or set it static without knowing it, because all local IP's change constantly.

Just go check in your settings.

Just go check in your settings.
I have many a time and time again, they don't seem to be out of my ordinary.

I laughed. Not everyone has a fixed IP, mines dynamic, the average joe has a dynamic IP, it changes all the time. I know to forward my ports and its easy, but I haven't done it, since I don't have a static IP. Even though I can, picking a higher number when you have lots of iPhones, printers, and computers can be a bad idea..

You obviously have no clue what were talking about.

i have a dynamic ip also

if you can't bear clicking five times and changing a number every time you restart your computer don't host servers

The amount of lazy half assed server hosts in this topic is astonishing.

Just loving set a static IP.

It's not even freaking difficult just follow step 3 on Badspots easy as hell tutorial.

Your really stupid. :(

No, they don't. Clearly you turned off your DHCP leasing, as it keeps each devices IP the same unless it's turned off or disconnected for the leasing period, which by default is 72 hours. Lern2network

I love how he keeps calling everyone else stupid about networking but doesn't know how to set up a LAN static IP.

I do.

Then.

Easy as hell.

Then, you change it to whatever you want, a higher number is recommended if you have a lot of devices. Your stupid.  :panda:

I'd love to see you fill those out properly.

Also, DCHP usually uses 100-200, so setting between 2-99 is recommended.

Yeah, um, <cmd <ipconfig

Easy, 39 is a random number I picked.

If I wanted the computer to make one for me, (it would be unstatic,), I would choose "Obtain an IP address"

Satisfied? My only point is in this topic is that port forwarding isn't easy. I use hamachi for steam games only.. I don't need to forward mine.
