That's the AMOUNT PAID IN TAXES, not the tax rate.
Yeah you're right, but it still punishes people for success which is the crux of his ideology.

I actually liked Romney's speech.  I wish we could all be friends in the end :(
oh god this

I don't see the connection, please do enlighten me. I don't think it's punishing success. The amount of money paid in taxes is merely five percent of what they earn compared to whatever the hell we have now.

Election's over, politics changes people, man.

I'm tired, so I might be thinking of this the wrong way.

But, if you're paying more for taxes ($500 vs $5) because you make more money ($10,000 vs $100) isn't that still punishing people for success?

It's not rewarding them for success, that's true. But neither is our current system either, since you still get taxed no matter what, lol.

It's only logical that the amount paid in taxes increases as income increases. So therefore, and don't call me out on my term usage here, that no matter the income, a million dollars versus a hundred dollars, everybody is paying their metaphorical "fair share".

Yeah, but you're deliberately being really kind just to be a contrarian.

Whatever though, kindness is kindness. Continue.

I'm being kind because I'm tired.

I'm flakey like that.

But I genuinely enjoyed Romney's speech.

I love intelligent debates on these forums.

Yeah, isn't it nice when people demonize logic by calling it socialist?

Nonono, the discussion between you and me.
That was enjoyable.
But yeah it's kind of nuts how people go insane over one little thing.
