my first reddit cake day was this halloween

here's a tip I just learned a month ago: unsubscribe from every "default" subreddit (/r/gaming, /r/funny, /r/pics, /r/f7u11, etc.) except maybe /r/science and /r/askreddit and you'll immediately rid yourself of 90% of the morons on the site

reddit is what's known as a link aggregator, meaning it's a place where the primary focus is posting links to other things to discuss them

think of it as a sort of internet hub, hence the subtitle "the front page of the internet"
