Spiral Knights is an MMORPG popularly known around Steam and various forums, in which you spawn as a clothe-less bot to seek your fate.... with friends!  Travel the vast 3D lands and enjoy this RP based game as you gear up with new armor.  This game has decently timed content updates which also makes me happy.

it's your generic mmo but you can only play a certain amount of time a day unless you pay
the mid level items are super expensive too

Well, you can convert crowns to energy however and vice versa.

but buying energy with crowns is incredibly expensive and because of the limit of playing time and high price you have to grind the stuff out of the game to be able to buy any energy

I guess you're right, but, this is not just a MMORPG, it has a very well-built engine and a design.
It also has a quite mature community.

its pretty much a gilded version of the weapon/shield for that armor set i believe
