It is a tool with a brown grip, a blue body and a big (or wide, you're not sure) drilling blade. It looks like it was used a lot.

From what you got out of reading the "un-corrupted" file, you and some other guy were sent to this huge spaceship to clean it from "Treonous", a race of purple space jellythings with circular mouths. Kinda explains the power outage.
