he could've meant that there was a folder in another folder that was trying to be "hidden", not necessarily a hidden folder as in you went and checked a dialog box saying "hidden"

pictures are sorted by date taken/added to the SD card.

as far as I can tell as I'm looking at my 3DS this very second pressing every single button there is no way to "create" a folder.
