Author Topic: Blockland wasn't greenlit.  (Read 9507 times)

There is a reason why blockland isn't getting the greenlighting the game deserves, blockland has very little exposure. Almost every blockland video is stuff, and it shines a bad light on the game. What we need to do is have someone who is good at building create amazing terrains, such as the myst build, the titanic, ect. then show them off with maximum shaders, smooth camera passes, and some still shots from good angles, basically we show what the game can do. We should also get to building some story driven maps, like the adventure maps in minecraft. I got into that stuff way back when i finally got decent at building but i only finished one map, and i never showed anyone because it had a stuff ending and it was pretty rushed.

Blockland has really bad advertising, if we want the game to get anywhere we're the ones who need to get the game into the spotlight. Greenlighting works better if there's some hype, and pretty stuff created hype.

I'm working on something, i've actually written a story this time and i think i can pull it off. I just need to get some modding stuff and i'll be ready to build. Hopefully i won't end up with a half finished map like i do every other time i do this kind of stuff.

Make sure the music isn't absolute stuff. A lot of BL videos have that fault about them.

Can I help make it?

....What the forget kind of game is this?

I'd rather eat dogstuff than play this.
Finally, some Blockland ads on Youtube!Gather up Blockland players registered on Steam (myself included) and say the same thing in general:
This is another loving clone, Blockland isn't, and here is proof!
And then that proof is going to get mobarded by minecraft stuffheads and then their going to forget up the wiki page so that Minecraft did come before.

What the forget is up in everyone's britches?

Voxel games have been around before Minecraft. Notch did not invent the cube, Notch did not trademark the cube, And Notch SUPPORTS Blockland.

I know Notch isn't the only one who is allowed to make open ended cube based games and definitely isn't the first, but when all these newer games come out after the success of Minecraft I have to wonder.

And no one said anything about Notch being against Blockland. It's not Notch's fault that half his fans are reactionary twits who think every building game is based off Minecraft.

That being said, I don't think it's the reactionary twits' fault that Blockland hasn't been greenlit yet. It's just that not enough people have found interest in the game yet, just like every other game that's still waiting in line.

Stop.

Blockscape actually looks really good though.
Blockscape got greenlit? Nice!
Also, I don't really feel that Blockland NEEDS to be on steam. Personally, I like the general smallishness of the community right now.

If you want Blockland to stay as a "small community" you should kill yourself, thereby making the community smaller and better.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I think it's nice that you can log onto a server, talk with someone, and then see them on another server the next day.
