Author Topic: better vehicle physics with bricks is vital for the next update  (Read 3431 times)

"lets race our turismos!!"
 "OKAE"
*crashes into 2 brick tall barrier
    "im stuck im stuck!"
*turismo has a seisure and is launched 80,000 feet into the sky

All the new updates made blockland even more amazing than it already is.
The only thing we are missing is great vehicle physics.
I strongly support this.
Vehicle physics were the same as the are now 10 versions ago.

This thread is majorly immature, do you really think Badspot is ignoring the fact vehicle physics suck?  No.

He's trying to get shaders and shadows optimized for all the other kids who can't play with shaders, and there is no 'dev' team, it's Badspot and a whole another what, 3 people?

He should focus on getting the game in the stage it's at right now at it's peak performance before he worries about any other new additions.

Badspot
Rotondo
Kompressor

that seems like a team
he probably also gets tips/advice from Ephialtes, Nitramtj, Wedge and others.

Sorry for invoking the rule of "gameplay over graphics," but I think it applies here.

Yes, and people have been complaining for at least 9 of those versions.

Of course he's not ignoring it. The S&S topic stated the physics were "being worked on", but we haven't even seen any sign of them being worked on. Threads like this show the dev team what the community wants.

Although I can respect that he's prioritizing on making the full-featured game available to everyone, shaders don't effect gameplay very much. They make Blockland beautiful, yes, but that hardly effects gameplay at all.

Additions? I'd say it's more of a long-awaited update than anything completely new.  Unlike Shadows and Shaders, vehicle physics already mostly exist and would probably only require a few engine updates, or at least that many in comparison to S&S, because the S&S update was a major change to the engine. Updated vehicle physics, however, would not be nearly as difficult to implement.

Yep, this too

gameplay is more superior than graphics in video games.

what a stuffty example. we're not playing video games "for" the graphics. badspot's working on fixing things because people would like to be able to see the S&S. if the graphical effects don't work for some people, he shouldn't just stop working on them away because "gameplay is superior".

typical conversation with a superindie handicap gamer:
1: "call of duty has amazing graphics"
2: "graphics dont make the game!"
1: "wtf i never said they did..."

k

but, this needs to be done with the physics

Vehicles are a big, basic part of blockland. And since they're basic they should be made to work properly. Shadows and Shaders are a lovely addition but it seems to me that more basic things should be improved before we move onto all this new stuff, like going on Steam and whatnot.

bump as this really should be done.
bapspop git to wurk

Has anyone PM'd Badspot about this? I'm not sure how well a suggestion topic will be seeing as it's kind of indirect...

And when I crash down to the ground with a flying vehicle, the vehicle goes up and down, like my vehicle is dry humping the ground.
