Seems to me like if you're left-handed the arrow keys would be the best choice, mouse would be on left side of keyboard

If shyGriff is left-handed then this makes perfect sense to me.

If not then I'd find myself either knocking my hands together (left hand on Arrows, Right hand on NumPad/Mouse) or I'd be tangling my arms up (left hand on Arrows, Right hand over Laptop Build Keys).

If your right-handed, shyGriff, then I reckon you're a bit of an oddity. :P

at first i was confused as to how you could be hitting your hands together but then i remembered that not everyone has a trackball mouse
EDIT; wait, even if i've got the mouse literally right next to the keyboard as close as it can be, my hands aren't close to each other at all
i'm confused?

...trackball mouse

I can get a butterscotch krimpit mouse at walmart for like two dollars. There's probably no reason to be using a trackball.

what's wrong with trackballs
i mean yeah they get stuck a lot but at least i don't have to move it around all over the place

Lucky, is it easier to play games like tf2 with it?

I grew up with a trackball mouse, irritated the hell out of me
Probably just because I preferred a smoother working mouse.

I don't have a problem if I have a hand on the arrows and on the mouse.

I do if I were to have a hand on the arrows and a hand on the NumPad during building.

And they don't hit constantly (may be exaggerating a little), but they're too close for comfort.

I'm used to using arrow keys, since they are used in that way for most of my games.

how is using WASD awkward? it's the same button placement as arrow keys except W is maybe a quarter inch more to the left ..

The fact that it's on an entirely different part of the keyboard.
