Author Topic: what is the difference between an SSD harddrive and a regular one  (Read 1760 times)

it should also be noted (since I doubt anyone will actually read all of the link above me) SSDs have no moving parts, unlike an HDD which can fail if you drop your laptop
An HDD's magnetic head falling on the disk is comparable to a 747 crashing into a large structure.

SSD's are quicker to start than HDD's so a lot of people use them for their operating system, so it boots up faster.
They have no moving parts inside so probably won't break if you drop them
SSD's are pretty much silent
Big HDD's are a lot cheaper than big SSD's

I can't tell if you misread "fail" for "fall" or if you're saying HDD failures are uncommon (which isn't true, I've had 3+ laptop HDDs fail on me completely and I've seen desktop ones begin to die as well)

either that or you're really bad at making brown townogies

..or you're saying it's loud or noisy or something

SSD uses flash technology and is much, much faster.

ssd requires no defragging :D

I mean that it, though not the same size, is about as destructive.

Files get sick, old, then die.

SSD's have a limited number of read/writes.

HDD and SSD would be a good idea...

ssd is only spose to be your main C: drive. for windows/programs/game installations.

a normal user always have the huge HDD, D: drive
