Tokyo JungleThe game where you can run around as more than 50 different types of animals, and try to ensure your races survival.
To survive, players must learn and adapt, refining skill in combat while staying hidden when necessary and practicing patience with those higher on the food chain. Three meters on the top of the screen, indicating your animal’s health, hunger and stamina, all force a balancing act upon you. Health is lost in the heat of battle, but for carnivores, fighting other creatures and eating their corpses is the only way to stave off starvation. Stamina allows for faster movement, but using it must be tempered, because, like health, it will only regenerate once you’re out of harm’s way.
Wtf is it?Tokyo Jungle has been a very minor game for a long time now, probably because of it's lack of online multiplayer. It is a PSN only game, and is at this point $15.00 USD. The main point of the game is to capture scent markers, find a mate, and mate. Doing all of this while playing as some of the largest and most beastly animals such as a lion, or measly herbivores such as rabbits.
Every animal can only survive for 15 years before all of it's stats start fading. There are three main stats in the game, these being:
StaminaStamina is what you use to evade, run from, or counter other animals. Every time you use an action that requires stamina, your stamina bar goes down.
LifeThis one is probably the most obvious, each time you get hit, your health goes down.
HungerHunger is one of the biggest parts of Tokyo Jungle, if your hunger reaches dangerous levels, your health will start slowly but steadily decreasing.
ToxicityNot exactly a stat but is still part of the game. The most annoying aspect of the game is toxicity. As you survive farther into the year, territorys will begin to become toxic, and food and some water will become contaminated, if you drink/eat/breath any of it you will start dying from the toxicity.
StoryThe story of Tokyo Jungle and why all of the humans disappeared is explained at the end, so I'd rather not spill to much of it. The general idea is that all of the humans disappeared for an unknown reason and all of the animals take over the city of Tokyo.
Story ModeThe story mode of Tokyo Jungle is quite short, but can be both comical and sad at certain moments. You go through the different lives of 8 different animals. These being:
Pomeranian dog
After running out of pet food, the Pomeranian dog now has to fend for itself in a now-wild-and-vicious Tokyo.
Sika deer
Two fawns search the hostile streets of Tokyo, looking for their mother.
Beagle
A hungry Beagle tries to overthrow a tyrannical Tosa Inu. The Beagle builds an army out of his pups to fight the Tosa.
Tosa Inu
The Tosa Inu is injured by the Beagle, and must escape. He then works to regain his lost honor.
Lioness
The lioness and her hunting party have to hunt the targeted animals all over the Subway area.
Male Lion
The male lion has to defend his pride from the roving male lions.
Hyena
The hyenas and the roving lions are planning to take over the beagle's territory.
ERC-003
After being found by ERC-X with her family of two wolves, ERC-003 now has to scan all of Tokyo for the disaster signals being put out by the humans' underground facility. She then faces a moral choice of whether to bring humanity back to Tokyo, or let the animals rule. Choosing yes will end the game, whereas 'no' will trigger a series of final boss fights and what is considered in Japan to be the "true ending."
Grazer or Predator? Each animal of Tokyo Jungle are either grazers or predators. (Herbivore or Carnivore) Predators are usually slightly faster, and with this they must eat more often. While grazers being a tad slower and not having to eat as much. They usually have about the same defense and life stats.
