Author Topic: RTB Dedicated Hosting Service - Service Closing  (Read 363788 times)

Pressing update server does the same procedure as the launcher does when an update is applied, or when a base file is missing. It's nothing Ephi can do.

Create an alternative.
It doesn't have to be that way, but that's the expected behavior.

Here's a shot of the new in-game server manager dashboard:

I think the design is just about finalised at this point and I think it's looking great if I can say so myself. I think I mentioned the feature set a few pages back but the following functionality will be included in the initial release:

 - Start/stop/restart/update control.
 - Console access.
 - Server chat access.

Depending on the complexity, I'll also be adding the ability to load bricks from this client so you won't have to use the slow ingame uploading or have to go into your hosting panel to upload it there. If this isn't in the initial release it'll be in the next update. Any ideas, suggestions or questions are welcome. Thanks!

Exactly how big is that window?

That window is exactly 473x298 pixels. Each of the buttons at the bottom of the servers opens into a server dashboard which is much bigger as there's more to do/see.

Nice ninja edit. Can we see pics of the other windows, or is that a waste of time as the release is going to be sometime soon?

They're not in a presentable state yet but I'll throw some pictures up once they're looking decent.

Couldn't this be added (including the server functionality) to mainline RTB instead?

In the long term that's absolutely the plan. The thing holding me back is the need to make some kind of wrapper to sit around Blockland which everything communicates with. The thought of having to make an application that'll run on everyone's computer and blah blah blah is a bit terrifying as it's really not my strong point.

I do have a branched version of RTB at the moment which includes a lot of trial functionality that doesn't require a wrapper and communicates with the RTB website just via TCP objects in-game so I suspect I'll continue with the development of that. In terms of a roadmap it's probably going to be v6 of RTB since I'm really keen to work on the RTB Buffet feature. Feel free to discuss this more in the RTB Development thread over in the Modification Discussion forum.

I don't regret buying this service, it runs great, and it makes everything so much easier to work with.

I love the idea of uploading saves via console from in-game, please do.

In game manager looks brilliant, will all that just skip the bridge step?

I actually changed the bridge a bit so it now runs on two ports, one for websocket connections and one for ingame connections. The in-game client just requests a token via the API and passes it to the bridge which routes the request as usual.

Awesome! Good to see consistent good quality development.
