130 ping seems livable enough. I get 130 ping to the house next door (thanks internet).

I get 200-300 to my server (Also California)

yea its decent, but idk it would be nice

RIP

What about after steam sales boost popularity? Maybe then?
I just dont like having 130 ping to my own RTB server :(

If Steam sales boost our sales significantly I'll probably look into it. We run NY04 and NY05 almost at capacity so a third server on the west coast could be sensible.

Seems overly high, would you mind running a traceroute to NY04 and PMing it to me?

I can assure you it's an issue on my end. Poor internet connections will be poor internet connections.

and i'm in oregon. no west coast servers is the main reason why I'm not going to buy an RTB server.

The main reason to buy a dedicated server is to give your players a good ping. If you want the best ping and don't care about your players then host the server from your own computer and it'll be great. RTB's location gives the best average ping worldwide.

Yeah that's true, but don't forget a good deal of blockland players are west coast too

And a good deal of players are east coast too. And a good deal of players are European. I don't see your point.

the point is that you should set up more servers when you can.

Players don't join servers based on region, they join based on the gamemode being hosted. If everyone was hosting one gamemode then regional servers would make sense, but as it is a single location where ping is roughly standardized across all RTB servers provides more consistency. That way you don't have to "adjust" to new ping going from one gamemode to the next if the server host decided to choose a node on the west coast of USA versus one in Europe.

the point is that you should set up more servers when you can.

I doubt West Coast servers will ever happen; there won't be enough demand to fund a server matching the quality of our New York nodes and Ephi and I don't really have time to further explore the possibility anyway.

Running a west coast server improves connections for people on the west coast, but worsens it for those on the east coast. More players are on the east coast than the west, so that's not a favorable tradeoff on average. This isn't that complicated.

Haven't been here in awhile obviously, was the whole auto saver issue worked out?

Just wondering...when are we getting the kick/ban from the panel?
