Author Topic: Need Help Convincing my Parents to let me buy gta 4 (shut up, i know im late)  (Read 846 times)

So I'm 16 years old, and one year away from legally buying M rated games on my own. Therefore, I have to use my parent's ID's to get these games. Some of these games are really hard to convince to my parents for me to be allowed to get, due to the violence they presume is on the game. Yet, it's not like I'm always thinking about killing people as I play, I'm just having fun, in a non-violent way. This is what I'm needing help on convincing to my parents.

Keep in mind, i haven't tried convincing yet, and I'm trying to get a good way to ask them the first way. Any advice?

Again, I know I'm late that I haven't bought gta 4 :p

legally buying m rates games on your own?
wtf, i know plenty of people who buy m rated games off steam without telling anyone.

Tell them it teaches you what not to do in real life.

I'm buying them on Xbox 360. You need an ID showing that you're 17+ to buy an m rated game.

Tell them you think you're mature enough to buy an M game and ask them if they think otherwise.

Tell them you'll mute the volume and turn on the subtitles. If they still don't let you just tell them you'll "turn off the bad things" works for me all the time.

Some excuses:
"I won't take it seriously"
or "It doesn't have any gore in it, just red pixels."
and then
"I don't see what's bad about moving pixels around"

Those last two don't hold up. Gay national socialist necrophilia research could also be considered moving pixels. Would you stream it to a preschool?

get wepon and shoot them

get wepon and shoot them
say that the game made you do it

Guys, I've bought M rated games before, but they were just shooters. GTA is a bit less innocent, so that's why I'm nervous to ask.

Depends.

"If you think I can't differentiate between the real and virtual worlds, you clearly have no faith in me as your son."

Just ask them, tell us what they say. I've had these types of moments before.

"I'm not going to loving pick up any language or violence you starfishs"
Then stab them
