Author Topic: Vincent's Sub-Par Sculpting  (Read 4517 times)

Since i'm tired of people generally being uncooperative and rude i took Bol-money's advice and made a topic for some of the stuff i'll be making.

Note - I know most, or a lot of this stuff is awful. I just started using this program.

Basic Pony, has basic mane and tail as well as eyes.

Basic Unicorn, Has basic mane, tail, and eyes. Includes a horn which is easy to edit.

Basic Pegasus, Has basic mane, tail, and eyes. Includes wings that are easily edited.

All of these are at their basic low-poly edit state. Meaning i can jump in and move the parts around and such. They're not supposed to have good looking manes or tails until someone requests a pony then i make them look good.

The eyes and mouth area are set up for a large almost infinite supply of emotions. the one on the models is a place-holder. The mouth is only there so i know where it's sorta anatomically correct.

Teeth and other mouth based items are easily added in via another clay ball.

Again, these aren't amazing and i just started using this program.

My next project is a character i made a while back. More on him later.

In a giant group or just one at a time. Grouping means more polygons to buffer so i'll just do one at a time.

After i color that picture.

op, on these forums i can never be too sure but i think most people on the 3d thread were being sarcastic after they got a rise out of you

i wasn't

Not terrible seeing as you just started sculpting. I can definitely see you doing some really good work with a little practice.

No. Have you even looked at this? It's a lump of garbage.

This is why i made a new topic. Don't post if you're going to be a richard.

So you posted this topic for the sole purpose of everybody trying to be sympathetic and telling you it isn't stuff?

No i posted it for constructive criticism not

Why the hell do you people have a problem with me trying to learn how to model. It's not like i have the confidence to say these are amazing which they clearly are not amazing. I don't see the point of just being richards because if it was anyone else you'd be perfectly fine with it.

Let me freaking try something. Jesus Christ you people can be such jerks sometimes.

If you know something is sub par to even your standards, why are you getting angry over people telling you it's bad as well.

I sometimes post crappy models and etc but instead of me throwing I fit I try to improve and I suggest you do the same

If that is so, then you should probably mention that.
Also it's not smart starting off your topic saying your work is terrible
"Note - I know most, or a lot of this stuff is awful. I just started using this program."
I would have said,
"I have just begun to use a new sculpting program and and not very good at it so could you please give me constructive criticism as I learn and improve."
If you know that the piece that you created is not your best that you can do at the time, I would not recommend posting it. If it's the best you can do, then post it asking how you can improve and not condemning it to trolling. I really hope that helps you in the future and now for the next part.

First off, what program are you using to sculpt? Sculptris? Did you use reference pictures to get it fairly accurate? The basic shape if fairly good except the facial parts, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, etc.. You could add a bit more detail and shape to the hair to make it look like it's flowing. I would have rendered with a different background, something plan so it doesn't take away from the model. Keep working on it, you'll get there eventually.
First off, my god someone around here understands criticism.

Ok, so yes i do use sculptris.

I will indeed work on the facial features, i've noticed that they're sub-par as well. And the hair is like that because that's the pre-edited form. Once done it looks a lot better.

Everything else you said i'll keep note on and add to the models.
