HUSK

What is Husk?
Husk was a game concept I started developing about a year ago, it's until now I have finally been able to pick it up and start getting some development done.

How is Husk played?
Husk is a multiplayer first person "horror" game, playing off the old rules Hide & Seek and typical Cat & Mouse style gameplay. One player is "It" in this case the Stalker, the Stalker's objective is to hunt down and kill every Husk. Husks are al the other players, through out rounds on the game they are helpless and can only run away from the Stalker.

Players play on a dark unlit map, players can turn on lights in other rooms however they can only have 3 rooms lit at a time. The Stalker can't go into a lit room or he will start to take damage. The Husk's objective is to kill the Stalker by luring him into lit rooms. The Stalker can shut off the entire maps power by using a fuse box. Husks can turn the power back on by using another Fusebox.

You can read the original concept document on the Dev blog

Where can I find this Dev blog?
Right here http://huskdev.tumblr.com/

Will you be taking up Alpha/Beta testers?
Yes, the Blockland forums will probably get first pick since this is where the project was sort of first talked about.
However, I'm not taking applications at the moment since we're only in pre alpha stages.

How is Husk being made?
Husk is being modelled and animated in Blender, AS OF DEC 8th Husk shall be coded in UDK

We're under new management now, and the original design plan is having a bit of work done, Husk very well could be quite different from the original concept and if that's a problem for you I apologize.

What do you want us to talk about?

oh, it's being redone again? best of luck to you.
what's going to be changed in terms of core gameplay?

I hope it doesn't change too much
but I'll be glad to test it when the time comes

oh yes, husk always was a really interesting concept

Making a topic this early is usually a bad sign

what would you suggest they made it in?
not a cheap and outdated engine that's slow as forget?

you should put all the fancy images from the last thread in the op

do you have a vague date of pre-pre-release?

How does the Stalker kill the Husks?

not a cheap and outdated engine that's slow as forget?
i don't know much about engines myself, so i only hope that it ends up being good.

Honestly, the idea isn't very original and the gameplay is eh.

Multiplayer "scary" games don't work together to well, it's usually not scary, or creepy overall as you have others there as "comfort". And with the design you're looking for, it looks a bit more strategic than scary, too.

It has potential, but with the very little information given doesn't make it sound interesting as a concept, to be fair. But it's also very early in development, so there are many more ideas that can come up along the way, of course.

Making a topic this early is usually a bad sign

Being open about a project this early in development isn't the best, but it's not a bad sign. As a matter of fact, he can get help from others opinions and such, so as a "new" developer, it's more of helping than anything from what I see.

not a cheap and outdated engine that's slow as forget?

Neither engines are very out of date, and not all new developers should dive into more complicated engines and concepts and all that, it's overwhelming it gives a huge lack of motivation. Let them work with what they can as they begin game development, as they might change later on if they feel the need.
