Megabyte Punch is an electro beat-'em-up/platforming/fighting game in which you build your own fighter!

Every creature in the game is made of separate parts. Parts have their own powers and bonuses (like gun arms for a shoot ability) and you can attach them to yourself freely. You travel through different environments, search for hidden parts and battle other creatures for theirs. This is the adventure mode. Then there is the fight mode. Here you can fight other players in a destructible arena with the abilities your customized creature gives you.

The game takes place in an computer world where you protect the Heartcore of your village against the likes of the Valk Empire and the dreaded Khoteps in 6 different levels with each 3 stages and a boss fight!

One thing not stated: You can dropkick robots through the ground. And sometimes even punch them through walls, I stuff you not.

I hope it doesn't have a rushed awkward looking story mode like SSBB had.

I was just playing the demo for this, and it seems really fun! However, it should be possible to view the parts you're currently wearing as well as the ones in your inventory. It should also be possible to remap your controls.

...and online play. A game like this would suck without online play.

I hope it doesn't have a rushed awkward looking story mode like SSBB had.

What seems rushed about it? I liked it.

I loving loved Custom Robo and I loving loved SSB. Definitely gonna check this out.

i don't like the way the attacks work and the animations but it looks like it could be fun

SSBB and Custom Robo combined?

i thought this was really cute. it's too bad i can't run it very well.

so i've played it now

the SMG arms are really cool but what really gets me is that that's the only real deviation from the smash bros formula

the arms are all stand-ins for things like fox's blaster and samus's missile (read: the boring things) most of the other parts are just commonly used other attacks (fox's up B, side B, marth's smash up) and still the most powerful attack is the meteor smash you've had from the beginning of the game

the sounds are weird and out of place and non-existent where they probably should exist (WHENEVER YOU ATTACK, for instance) and the characters are too small and cute to look like they're actually trying to do damage to one another and that's not made up for by overblown, exaggerated animations (like kirby's or ness's attacks from smash bros)

but the concept is there. it's a good one, too.

I wonder if robots play games about people killing each other, ripping off the limbs of the fallen, chopping off their own limbs, and sewing the dead limbs on.

fun fact: some specials exist purely for softening up enemies so they fly further (ie SMGs and mantibyte/manticore (?) arms)

I once killed one of the little red robots that barely do anything, and it must have flown through several meters of rock and made a deep hole in the ceiling. Lol

And now I just dropkicked one of the same robots from a spot near the top of the level, to the very bottom. Jesus christ this game is genius.

It gets even worse when you get a part with the spinkick ability.  You can kick those midgets through the entire level if they're soft enough.
