Author Topic: gay people - how do you feel about them?  (Read 15380 times)

I refuse to set my judgment of someone based on the grounds of whether or not they like guys or girls. If they act like a jerk to me because I'm straight, then we'll talk.

Gays should have a separate "marriage" title. I understand that most religions (and people) find the word marriage sacred, and many people would agree that marriage was meant to be between opposite genders. The Supreme Court should create another "marriage" title. This title would have the same benefits of being married, with the exception of child custody (obviously). Don't call it marriage, don't have it in a church, and voila. You've defused the public.

But we shouldn't have to "defuse" the public. In a purely legal context, gay people should have the right to be married. We don't have to force churches into marrying same-love couples, but they should at least be able to get standard state marriage licenses like heteroloveual people.

I'm gay

- I know absolutely nothing about fashion
- I don't have a lisp
- I don't flip my wrist around
- I don't have special "products" such as ointments and makeup

Although I do have some mighty fine cologne that smells amazing

no, gay people want to be able to have the title of marriage just like straight people do. making them have to get a different title just makes them feel more different.

Well, it's reality. If you want to deal with discrimination, murder, and profiling (may go with discrimination in this instance), then push for the title marriage. Otherwise, push for another type of license. Also, it would be much more beneficial for gays to have a custom system instead of one based off of hetero relationships. Like, one person could be declared as mother status, and one of father status. So if they adopt, and divorce, custody doesn't turn into a divide by 0 error.

Again. If gays had the title or marriage, hell would break lose. Not my doing, nor choosing, just reality. The system would be heavily flawed anyway seeing that there would really be no distinction between either party (husband and husband)

well they are different. they should settle for a different title

I really don't think much would happen.  Sure people would be angry at first, but they will either die or get used to it.  Same thing happened with inter-racial marriage

obv make the more feminine one the wife

"you like guys? you can't legally marry lol"

no.

I still don't get why gays eating wedding cake makes people furious. It's their life, not yours, so why care? Marriage is a legal institution, not religious, so let them be.

Only among people who don't support it, but I'd imagine that would die down pretty fast.

You know, to this day, blacks in the south still don't go the same prom as whites.

Law doesn't work like that.

Legal definition of marriage is between a husband and a wife.
