Author Topic: Blockocraft - One final attempt.  (Read 3798 times)

Blockland, despite what others might say, is a game for building other games.

I, and many others, want to see a minecraft gamemode created, not exactly, but very similar.

I have tried to make this happen ~4 times now, maybe more, and failed at the hands of my helpers.

I look to you, forums, hoping maybe someone here may be able to make this really happen.

(Old screenshot, many more bricks have been created since then, complete with a user-friendly GUI)

Looks beautiful but I sorta wish the blocks were a bit ehh.. Bigger?

Players are meant to be scaled down to 0.75x or 0.60.

If this is created, I aim to host it for a while and then release it as a public gamemode.

If not, well, I'll make icons for all the bricks and release it as an unfinished brickpack :c.

Ok so you linked me to this.
What am I supposed to do?

This is scripted right?
Not evented?

That would be a damn fine feat if it was done using only events.

I could do it, with time.
(actually probably not, but it's a nice thought.)

Anyway, I would absolutely love to help in any way I possibly can with this, just let me know if you want my help.

If I knew how to do terrain generation I would certainly try to do this.

I can see why one might want to replicate the survival mechanics of Minecraft, but why copy its appearance? There is an opportunity to create something better than source material.

If you have a better style for the low face count such as above, that could be created in mass numbers with little lag, and relative ease code-wise, go ahead and provide an example.

Or better yet, make an actual visual model.

If you have the Hex GUI add-on, I don't suggest installing this, you WILL encounter problems, I never renamed certain GUI ellements within the add-on when merging the 2.
Also, this add-on is opened upon clicking the Credits button on the main menu.

i'd say the cute style of this manages to set itself apart from minecraft and, mixed with yummy shadows and shaders, looks nicer too

Incase you didn't catch on, I'm interested in helping with this.

You could talk to Brian or []---[] for the terrain generator

You know what, I would personally help with the items even though I've got a pack to finish.

Not a whole lot has happened since the topic was created; some discussion on the terrain, brickcount, and me officially rendering the brick icons in blender, but thats it.

I would be very interested in what models you guys come up with for the pickaxes and such.
