What is your opinion on school uniforms?

at the public schools here we could only wear blue, purple, or white polo shirts with blue or khaki dress pants. as someone who started off going to a private school with no uniform code, i didn't really like it, but i didn't care after a while. this year, however, they've done away with the uniforms at the public schools and students can wear anything appropriate.

thankfully i'm homeschooled so i can wear my pajamas all day and no one will care

Teacher's Opinions:

The main reason my school has uniforms is because of bullying. Kids are being picked on for the clothes they wear. Therefore, they use uniforms to make it seem like our school is a "family".

Fitting in in terms of clothing to at least a reasonable extent as I do is not difficult. I went this whole day with my shirt inside out and only two people noticed, and they didn't even care. They just asked me if I knew that it was inside out.

There are a few people with god-awful clothing choices and it's none of my business to discriminate in any way other than mentally and nobody else cares either. Uniforms would be annoying and useless.

The school does provide a few regulations though, and does not allow any hats inside the building.

Uniforms are lame. If somebody dresses stufftily, they won't look any different in a uniform.
My old school claimed we had uniform to prevent people from wearing "gang colors". wat.

Really dumb idea. A dress code is a good thing to have but school uniforms are unnecessary.

i dont get why someone would want uniforms. like its honestly really dumb and there's not really a benefit to it. i mean i understand dress codes, i understand people not wanting to see big lovey hunks (like me) walking around in speedo's, or if it was like color restriction to avoid gang conflicts and stuff.

but uniforms are just dumb.

School uniforms are stupid. Many schools just enforce a dress code (many of which rules are just to prevent girls from dressing too sluttily). Other than that, students should be allowed to choose their own clothing.
