ROUND 2
Map info: Dense, lush forest, midday but rainy, low-medium visibility. Road wide enough for 8 people to walk side-by-side goes through the forest. Ground is slick from rain. Realistic damage.
Allied details: You are fighting with the Germanic tribes in the time of Roman tyranny (aka swords and bows and stuff). Your men rank 250 strong, 170 of these men are on foot wield any of the following: shields, swords, longswords, axes, mauls, spears, or any other hand-based melee weapon. They have light to no armor. Another 30 are archers, equipped with bows and arrows made for hunting. They all have no armor whatsoever and wield daggers for close range. Another 35 ride as the cavalry, mounted on trusty steeds and equipped with anything ranging from spears to bows. Their horses are unarmored but the majority of them have leather armor. The final 15 handle 4 ballista, large crossbow like weapons that can pierce through multiple men and take down horses with ease. These men carry only shortswords as protection.
Enemy details: The enemy are the strong forces of the Roman empire. They are estimated to rank 170 strong. 120 of their men are most likely equipped with short to long spears and/or short swords, along with bronze shields and bronze to leather armor. 40 of their men most likely make up their ranged division, equipped with throwing spears or bows and arrows, along with light armor and a shortsword. Only 10 are estimated to be cavalry, and these are all commanders who are heavily armored and wield a variety of weapons.
So lets begin!
You find yourself in the dense forest of the Germanic territories. Rain falls heavily from the sky, weighing down the tree's, lowering the visibility and making noises harder to hear. You see that you are one a slope that goes down to meet a dirt road. On the other side of the road it slopes up again. To the far left is a greatly higher area on the slope that overlooks the road, this is where the main force of your archers are. Throughout the forest are uprooted trees, stumps and rotting logs that would provide adequate cover to a single man. Many of the footmen are located among those. Your cavalry and the ballista are on the other side of the slope, and they are supposed to open the charge. The Romans are supposed to be marching up the road from the far right, in a line of 6 men across.
Where would you like to go?
