Author Topic: Elementary school shooting. ~28 dead, 20 children, 6-7 teachers, 1 shooter  (Read 19785 times)

This idea would never work. If all the faculty carried guns, then what if some mentally unstable/angry at the world kid in middle school or high school overpowered the teacher and took the gun? Considering most teachers are female, and it wouldn't be that hard to do in most cases.

Smart guns.
I think H and K made one where you have to have a bracelet on to shoot

BFF bracelet, no killer would wear that

Arming more people might lower the occurrence of these things, but it would definitely raise the number of shooting deaths and make nobody safer.

thank you

My deepest sympathy goes out to all those affected by the terrible shootings

My state has open-carry, meaning you can carry a weapon that isn't even concealed. Kinda like the wild west. Me of course hates this idea, but if more responsible people have guns on them, this will not happen where I am as often in most places.

So I guess if more people had guns this wouldn't happen. But I agree to the fact that they need more rules and regulations to them.

1 Kid has a gun, the entire staff does, I don't think the kid will win.

There's usually one teacher in the classroom with 20-30 students. They could gang up on her, lock the door, take the gun, and then go on a rampage. It's not as if the whole staff is in one classroom waiting for someone to go crazy.

I've never heard of "smart guns", but if they worked then I still don't know if it would be appropriate to handle guns, much less be a student and know that your teacher carries a gun at all times, around children.
What if the teacher was a rapist/psycho himself? He could kill his entire classroom and make a run for it.

Overall, I don't think the idea would be efficient.

Are people seriously suggesting that teachers have guns as a solution to the problem of school gun violence?

How about give the janitors guns. They won't be tempted to misuse it because then they'd have to clean up the blood.

The big problem I see with arming staff is that if they fail, the shooter gets more ammo and thus more kids get killed.

Shooters usually only go through like 1 clip, even though they usually bring a stuffload of ammo. They rarely reload before offing themselves.

So you wanna teach kids that guns everywhere are normal?
You know that kids are very unaware of the danger of these things right?
You know that they can be very innovative when it comes to trying to get to know what something is right?

Even when you would lock up the guns from children, it's not safe to have guns around little kids.
And then we also have the impact on what they think of guns later by seeing them even in their supposed to be safe enviroment.

You can go tell all the little children that they aren't safe because people are out there killing others okay?
In Switzerland there are literally kids who walk around with H&K Rifles on their back talking to each other because firearm ownership is mandatory. No one has "Terrible messages" in their heads and Switzerland has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.
