you really think criminals are going to follow gun laws?

On the plus side: The parents of the dead children get to return all those Christmas gifts and buy something nice for themselves.

So California has more gun control laws than all the states and there are so many gangs here that laws don't matter to them and too make things worse we have major prison overcrowding here.

you should feel bad

I'm referring to the news. Especially the one that I caught my parents watching (thought it was NBC, I'm probably wrong)
I skipped around the thread, 26 pages is a lot of reading.
And it goes both ways. I know a teacher who is pro-gun and thinks she should be able to bring her 45. To school to better prevent something like this.

Then on the other end of the spectrum, my gf's mom believes weapons altogether should be banned. All weapons. Pocket knives to rocket launchers. Leave it to law enforcement / military

Ask her what she is going to do if the government ever becomes oppressive.

Probably nothing. Their family is a small 3-person family, low income. They would probably find a way to cope or something. Though tbh I don't fully understand what you mean by oppressive. I'm going off of my understanding of the word 'oppressive', which may be inaccurate.

Besides, if the government did become a lot more oppressive, what would anyone really do. Are we talking like sudden communism?

Like sudden north korea
I actually recently watched a documentary on the prison camps and one of their escapees (his view of freedom is and was broiled chicken.)

If that was the case, they would probably try and help with whatever riots were going on. I can bet safely Americans in general would not accept that and riots would be abundant, and in which case if there was a hypothetical riot near where I live, I may or may not be a part of it.

Though that all still seems a bit crazy and highly unlikely, so odds are her mom will remain anti-gun

Ultimate proof we need more laws.
If people have free will and basic human rights, than bad stuff occasionally happens.

Actually, if people don't have free will or basic humans, worse stuff happens. All the time.

Politicians are going to use this an excuse for more laws to choke American freedoms.

Staff in schools should be allowed to carry guns.
On the subject of children overpowering a teacher. Now a single kid has a gun, and the second a shot is fired all of the other teachers in the classrooms could be on their ass quickly.

Or maybe some tasers or at least a huge can of mace

Get their addresses, and I'll drive everyone to their houses.

I'll join you.

Almost cried when I saw this, It's close to where I live also...
