How do you record Garry's Mod with Fraps?

I'm working on a project for school, but the FPS count isn't showing up in the corner and recording does nothing. How do I set Fraps to record the window?

Start fraps before starting Gmod.

Have it started, open gmod, hit the key bound on fraps to start recording. I believe it's like f9. Might want to change it.
