For me, it'd be the graphic novel Unterzakhn. (Underlings) It's a great comic about Yiddish immigrants in 1900s new york, but then... it focuses on the one sister, who's a prostitute and then...

Just so much illustrated research.

This one book called the Snowman, pretty weird.

I read an excerpt of something by Franz Kafka, and that was definitely it. Can't remember which of his works it was, though.

I want to say The Lord of the Flies

Simply because I never read books for school, and outside of school I write them, not read. But this one I actually happened to read.

Also, the Man With The Iron Fists - Sloane was pretty odd. I couldn't find it anywhere, I bought it from some third-rate 50¢ bookstore in Key West.
