I had got into the closed beta but I just couldn't get into it, but now that I'm actually trying it it's quite fun.  I'm already at level 13.

Wtf, why does my account name need to be different from my display name?

So that people don't know what your account name is just by looking at your display name?
Makes perfect sense to me

No it doesn't, my account name is used to log into my account, right? What use is the account name without the password. fred da kiko is used to log into my blf account, no one has my password so it's not a problem.

Because if they know your login name then they can just enter that and leave an automated password cracker going until they get in.
Also keep in mind that this game is played by more people than just you, so even if you are intelligent and amazing enough to have a complex password there are still people out there who don't use such passwords and instead use relatively easy ones

Password checkers would take hundreds of years to figure out two words, they should just tell the person in question to have a two word password instead of making the person choose a different account name. do you honestly think i'm going to choose anything other than freddakiko1 for my account name, i mean loving seriously. If a password makes you choose a number after your password, do you actually put a number in your password or do you just do your password plus 1 at the end, it's the same principal.

Why can't you just accept my explanation as a perfectly rational and totally okay reason for the game developers to do this? The average user most likely uses a dictionary word with a number as their password, dictionary crackers could get that in no time, many many games developers, website and forum makers use similar systems for similar reasons, so why don't you just accept my reasoning for something which your complaining wouldn't loving change anyway, even if I was the person who implemented the system into every single thing that has ever used it.

Is it really that much of an inconvenience for you to use a different display name?

Smashing something till it's heathbar depletes while dodging it's very slow 'momentum swings', doesn't seem too interesting.

It's like those button mashing single player console games, but online.

Because standing still while taking innevitable damage is better. These real time combat systems are the future of MMO's.

Because it's loving handicapped and not logical at all. You might as well have two loving passwords.
