what if blockland was used in schools for education?

this topic has always been brought up in my mind ever since i purchased the game... what if schools used it?

I think we're all aware of the disadvantages of it, but what about the advantages?

 - events: use them to design cool stuff
 - vehicles and planes - full of cool

and building. the one who makes the best build gets a golden award or something.

so, would this be a good/bad idea and why?

Blockland has no educational value whatsoever. Maybe for preschoolers they could let them build cool stuff, but I've never seen a class on 'eventing' which seems like a pointless skill to have for anything other than playing video games.

i disagree. it could actually be used to teach in some forms architectural design.

my sister's school does a "minecraft redstone club" which has sort of the same concept of eventing

Alright, I'll give it that. In an architecture class it may have some value as modelling software, but in reality actual modelling software is more useful and plausible.

Well, that teaches binary logic and is a club. So, it's pretty different.

but eventing is sort of like mathematics

as long as they're on single player  :cookieMonster:

You're thinking of logic, and it isn't really. There are better ways to teach logical structures.

yeah i thought this as soon as i saw the title
multiplayer is the opposite of educational

architectural design and eventing is like simple programming, and dont you say that creating mods is not valuable.

Minecraft is used for educational use in some places.

as mentioned by myself, my sister's school.
we dont get that stuff at my school, i dont get it. when i leave a school, they get all the good stuff

Scripting is probably the most useful part of Blockland. I'm a little biased, but if it weren't for Blockland I would have never picked up programming, and at this current point in time I am a more successful and knowledgeable programmer than most recent college graduates, and I am in well versed in more languages than they probably know exist.

Ingame it's pretty useless

As a code testing tool like tritnik said it would be good. It would have better motivation than for plain coding since the stuff you make would be immediately usable for entertainment
