Currently it's not possible, However perhaps eventually it will have wii u support.

Yeah the touchscreen is just a glorified inventory screen most of the time anyway and the wii u isn't that powerful so probably soon.

Wii can play GameCube and Wii games



Both have backwards compatibility by 1gen...

There isn't really a reason for the wii u to not have GameCube compatibility apart from Nintendo wanting more money.
