Author Topic: Should Axo get a GTX680 or 690?  (Read 549 times)

I didn't get a good answer for the GTX680 or 690 question so I will ask it again.

I will have ~$2.5k ready for budget. I will be gaming with only one monitor. I will be using the 2nd hard drive for Windows Backup.

Possible games that I will use:
Minecraft with maxed out graphics (and maxed GLSL shaders), expecting 60+ FPS.
Blockland with furthest render distance and max shaders, expecting 60+ FPS.
Star Ruler with max settings.

I don't care about noise, as long as it doesn't go over 80dB.

680. It's cheaper and 690 is overkill.

gtx 680

A 680 is much cheaper.

Do you know how GPU-intensive Minecraft with GLSL shaders and far distance is, or am I just overestimating?Eh, I think I will stick with the 680.

get a 680 or even a 670 OC. wait for the 700 series before jumping in to get the best of the best.

That's what I was thinking, the GTX700 series. I have to wait until July, anyways.

690 = two 680s taped together for 2.5x the price

A hard drive for Windows backup. What?

690 = two 680s taped together for 2.5x the price
price of two 680s taped together - 940 dollars.
how is a 690 2.5x the price of two 680s?

2.5x the price and 1.8x the performance.

i meant it's 2.5x the price of one 680, so essentially you're wasting that .5.
also i thought it's price was $400, not $460
