Author Topic: Baked shadows?  (Read 5875 times)

When I saw the title, I thought you were requesting some drug-ridden shader mod.  I was wrong.

What about vehicles
Good point. Perhaps there is a way to ignore rendering brick shadows. The game should only render shadows for players, vehicles, and other shapes but not bricks.

Yes, this is defiantly an interesting idea. I sure hope Badspot reads this!

I really hope this is possible, as I remember us being able to have baked shadows on terrain and interiors, though we're talking about bricks here, so...

That was just different textures no?

What about shadows reacting with moving emitters?

I hope this can be done effectively.

Only the brick shadows would be baked, the rest would work normally.

I have a feeling this is too good to be true. There's the problem of fakekilled bricks, vehicles, bots, emitters, and player shadows, which there may or may not be a way around. I'm not going to get my hopes up

No, if you changed the terrain, light source, etc. in mission editor and relit the scene, shadows would also change.

I just don't understand why on terrain, everybody could have player shadows, but on bricks, you can't unless your card supports it.

Help I dreamed I could do this :(

I'm very interested in seeing this idea put through.

We can still have shadows in real-time, with only some of the shadows baked
When light is cast /a shadow is created, shaders will be used to remove a tiny area of the baked shadow (light is cast) , and to cast a non-baked shadow (a shadow is created) This might be hard to understand :C

so helpful
why is the only thing i see people doing on this forum the act of pointing out the "flaws" in other people and their actions? i mean, it's obviously not a universal attitude and it's certainly only prevalent in one post in this thread, but from what i've seen it's kind of rampant in this corner of the internet.

like seriously though even on a logical level who or why should anyone even care about what this thing is you're complaining about
it's not like everyone but me is being extremely, inimitably helpful in every conceivable way.
yeah.

wow i thought this thread had more pages

OT: yes, i agree with this

gud idea ladios
