I have a question.
Why does some RAM specifically list the requirement of an mb chipset, and when ram is sold as "Sandy bridge optimized" what exactly is different about that RAM which makes it "optimized" for that CPU family and can you use it in Ivy, etc.
It's the same perspective of buying a Blu-Ray player and only buying regular DVD's, you're not getting the maximum performance out of the machine. The machine can play DVD's, but would perform at a much better level and provide a much better experience with Blu-Ray DVD's.
Might have you check a build i've been putting together for a friend sometime soon? Just to make sure i've got him good pieces?
Feel free to post it here or PM it to me and I'll give it a look over.
So is this thread exclusively for ASSEMBLING computers, or can it also be about the custom parts you're selecting to build it for?
I'd prefer it to stay the course of mostly building PC's, but any questions you have feel free to ask.

You did a pretty good job, I'd swap out the 750W PSU with a 600 - 650 just to save some cash to put towards a better HDD if you don't plan on upgrading anytime soon.
The RAM you didn't provide a direct model number so I found this one:
hereThe motherboard, GPU, and CPU are all perfectly compatible and nothing is really bottlenecking another.
I hope the build goes well for you, and do you have a derived Linux you are putting on it yet?
