Author Topic: Blockland for linux?  (Read 1739 times)

Would there be a significant performance increase for such a port?
Running native is always faster than running through wine. I do believe it would be significant.

I think he means compared to other OS's.

(Sorta off topic) What happened to the Linux Game Tome (HappyPenguin)? I used to find some good cheap/free games there all the time, and I miss it :(

Someone has also found a way to make dedicated servers work, t requires some work with the terminal but its easy.

Huh? Dedicated servers worked perfectly for me with no work necessary.

Linux can actually become an alternative OS, when im an adult and I buy a new PC, if its for gaming but just a home or server PC ill just put Linux on it to save $100.

Blockland really does work perfect with Wine, although I tried it yesterday with Ubuntu 12.04 and a version of wine (it might've been old) but Blockland did not start up, I think it it was because I didn't have my sound drives an it didn't come up, doesn't make much sense but I think that's why.

I would recommend you to try linux in a virtual machine, it is a simple way to test it out without any danger of messing around with your actual machine. A good way to do this would be to use Oracle Virtualbox (google it).

Games don't run as fast and dual booting does no danger.

When I used Blockland on Ubuntu, the screens and GUIs always flashed.
But of course, I'd much rather use Windows 7 anyways.
