From what I've seen, the game is much better in terms of atmosphere. The beta seems to exclude a lot of content at the moment, probably to avoid spoiling for when the game reaches full release when it should be as bug free as they can do at this time. However, it runs as long as The Eight Pages currently and updates to the beta are expected whereas you'll get more content.
