I'm not sure if this would interest any of you, but I'll post it here anyway. This is just a direct copy and paste from the e-mail correspondence between myself and my boss.
A little prefacing though; as some of you may know, I'm a club/festival dj, as well as work[ed] for a record label as an assistant producer. almost a year ago they shut down my branch and i lost my job, so i got a new gig as a freelance groove producer for a new label. I'm moving to colorado now though so all of my work and client correspondence will have to be done via e-mail and Skype and dropbox and the works.
So now for the good stuff;
Due to the fact that I am going to be in Colorado, I think it's best we work with the idea that you had of us corresponding via SPLICE and Dropbox for sharing, as well as a combination of FaceTime and Skype for actual meetings. Now, the only other thing that I would suggest throwing into the equation, is using a streaming service such as Twitch.TV which would enable you and the client to actually see what's going on in the studio. As you know, I have professional video equipment set up in my studio at home which I was planning on taking with me, so we wouldn't have to worry about angles or anything. Now, the real question is if this is something you'd be comfortable working with or if you'd just like to keep it strictly with stems and project files and verbal interactions.
Now, for those of you who don't understand what this means, basically I might be hosting livestreams of myself working on music with 3 different angles of video;
- Ariel so you can see the equipment I'm using and the actual process of tuning and production and stuff.
- A stream of my 2 computer monitors showing exactly what I'm doing in my DAW
- A closeup stream of each plugin that I'm using so you can see how I edit the sounds it creates with the knobs and such.
This, of course, isn't only limited to when I'm working for the label, I would also love to help get some of you guys started by doing little workshops. I'd say maybe 1 or 2 sessions a week for an hour or two depending on how much time I have with school and what not, and in this timeframe I'd be able to answer any questions that you might have, walk you through any issues you're having with your DAW (I'm an expert with almost every DAW except FL Studio because it's a joke), or whatever you might need.
These would of course be free to view, however if you want a 1on1 session it'd be my normal flat instructor rate which we can discuss in private since I don't think I'm allowed to do it on the forums.
