I think you seriously underestimate the work involved in moving everything to a new engine, probably because you're uninformed and ignorant. Years and years of work and optimization have gone into making Blockland work as well as it does on TGE. I can tell you now in no uncertain terms that moving to another engine is 100% never going to happen no matter how many internet polls you make.

You really like to start stuff, don't you.

like buildable player types and ingame mod creator?
Very possible if we did this. I'm not saying that this would be easy, but it would without a doubt be a good idea and practical.

Probably. I still think that it's impractical for us to keep working on this system. Where will be at in a year?

someday its going to happen trogtor, someday

Cryengine 3 is for games that look realistic. Nearly every feature of Cryengine would be wasted in Blockland.

The contrast between realism and blocko would be even worse than it was before v21.

Plus, if you want Dynamic Physics, that would DRASTICALLY increase the time it takes to make a vehicle. This will make it far more difficult to make add-ons and deter people that are not already great at doing stuff like that. (>> Yndaaa, for instance).

Like, imagine how silly a Blockhead looks in g-mod. Then imagine that, except it's not supposed to be a joke.

Not only is it not going to happen, it's something that you don't want to happen. Like Brian said earlier, it's going to be a stuffstorm for modders.

Probably. I still think that it's impractical for us to keep working on this system. Where will be at in a year?
Give up. It's not going to happen. Want it to happen? Buy it yourself and create Blockland II.

You really like to start stuff, don't you.

Well someone who actually understands what they're talking about would never make such a ridiculous thread so I think what I said was accurate.

You think other engines don't have to sacrifice functionality for performance? That's the nature of computing power, you can't just have both. A crazy amount of work has gone into making sure that Blockland can handle 256,000 bricks in view at one time. Do you think the Crysis engine could cope with that?

Like I said, you just have no understanding of what you're talking about. Blockland isn't a vehicle simulator, it's for building with bricks - and it does that incredibly well at the moment.

someday its going to happen trogtor, someday
Hopefully :/

I agree. Eventually we will be struck out of ideas because the lack of abilities torque has

Not for kids within the appropriate age of playing with legos who use their parents computer that runs at 10 fps with 20k bricks

all we can do is make a blockland mod for gmod and act like its bl2

I agree. Eventually we will be struck out of ideas because the lack of abilities torque has

Torque didn't originally have the capability to do what Blockland does with bricks at the moment, but we have it now because Badspot and kompressor are game developers who develop games. You need to understand the difference between an indie game like Blockland and a game like Crysis produced by a massive company with a team of developers.

Not for kids within the appropriate age of playing with legos who use their parents computer that runs at 10 fps with 20k bricks

So you think switching to an engine like Cryengine which is far more graphically intensive is going to be beneficial to those people? Those people use stuffty old computers and the world has moved on. I don't get what point you're even trying to make there.

Not for kids within the apropriate age of playing with legos who use their parents computer that runs at 10 fps with 20k bricks
You realize that Far Cry 3 and Crysis will run like stuff on that computer, right?

Anyways, it's not a good idea. It won't look good.
