In my opinion, Gameloft is the worst game developer on the App Store. Their games are never original; They are either terrible tie-ins, rip-offs or FarmVille style "buy more money now!!!" games. I'm going to spotlight a few games to give you an example of why I regret ever giving money to this uncreative studio.
EXHIBIT ARip-offs
Millitary first person shooter; it's single player experience is even more brown and grey than Warfighter and the multiplayer experience is Pay-to-win, but they put it at a high price because they know they'll make a killing riding off of the success of
Modern Combat
Black Ops 2
Futuristic first person shooter with lasers and all that funk; Also played, also boring and also obviously wanting to be someone really badly
N.O.V.A.
Halo
Futuristic RTS with missions on different a planets; again, mind numbingly dull and a rip-off of
Starfront
Starcraft 2
There's more rip-offs (GTA, Ridge Racer etc.) but we have to move on at some point
EXHIBIT BCash ins
It's FarmVille with Ice Age taped over. I'm pretty sure this is the definition of cash whoring.
This SURE hasn't been done before ever in the history of gaming ever!
I find it hard to believe that people actually show interest in this stuff.
A supposed "gaming social network" but only for Gameloft games (I can't think of anything worse). What pisses me off the most is that you have to pay just to buy certain clothes for your avatar.
Again, there's probably more but I want to get this over with.
EXHIBIT CLow quality games that look nice but play horribly
Apart from a few exceptions (Rayman 2, which they only had to port), pretty much every 3D game I have played by Gameloft controls badly, has frame rate issues and is no fun all. Take, for instance, Modern Combat 3: Black Pegasus; the game is insanely fiddley to control as has some of the most linear and dull FPS gameplay my sorry fingers have had to poke (Run here, shoot man, plant explosives, get to da choppa moan moan moan).
CONCLUSIONGameloft is a money grabbing, uncreative tumour growing over the App Stores original and fun games and misleading people (like me) into thinking their games are good by slapping black faded borders on a screenshot of their game and saying its revolutionary graphics.
