researchers actually recently proved that it is possible to recreate a supervolcano inside your computer by running an FX 9590 without a liquid cooler, along with the stock r9 290x

eh, I could understand maybe a little hotter, but I can't imagine it being that much worse.

I have two of these in my computer, 2 years no problem yet. Also Win7 boots in about 10-15seconds and Win8 about 5 seconds.

Is an r9 290 (reference cooler) for £257 worth it? It's like £100~ cheaper than the cheapest non-ref & I don't really care about noise that much either

If you start worrying about noise & temperatures in the future.

You can always water cool your R9 290X by buying a water block from someone like EK and the rest you can either google it or ask us. There is also a company which sells there own special heatsink/cooler for R9 290Xs and plenty of other cards. Here is a link to one of there coolers:

I do not know how well these work or how you would install one.

It's funny because Mack made this thread because Ethan stopped updating it and now Mack is doing the same thing. Computermegathread V3 incoming.

If a new thread is being made I'd love to contribute to the operating system section.
