Ok, forget ubuntu

I was trying to install steam so I can get my free virtual tf2 pixels, and it was nothing but package errors, window lag, uninstalled dependencies, unknown architecture, and other utter bullstuff

Well I don't have 700, what about getting that one and getting a upgrade on the side. or building something on the side. or looking for a used custom built computer which is under 400. since christmas was recently, so people could be selling there old comps.
You'd be better off building your own.
I wouldn't say you'd have to spend 700, but you still won't get it cheap.

are you sure your image wasn't corrupt at all?

Well that computer you wanted to get is so loving horrible i just checked
It has no slots except for 2 ram slots, no pci slots or any loving slots
and this is the first time i ever saw this but the cpu cannot be upgraded because its soldered to the motherboard so the only upgrade you can do is increase the ram to 8 gb from 4 gb

and one rule - dont buy used electronics

well that loving sucks. but why not buy used electronics?

there are just so many things that can go wrong, and plus you dont have warranty or anything at all in case something bad happens which it probably will

I never even bought a warranty since I take care of all my electronics though they were all bought brand new. I guess your right.

here zacks, i tried to build a pc around 400 bucks, seems decent enough
its without any operating system though so you might have to spend an extra 100 bucks on that

Pretty sure it wasn't, but what would I do if it were?

Just placed an order for my Lenovo IdeaPad Y500. Pretty excited. Scratch that, really excited.

oh my thanks, I wont be needing a os since I have vista here. I can also drop the hard drive since I can reuse one or two from this computer. Should I change the mother board to atx and save a bit extra money to make the power suppy better or is it fine?

if you are going to be using a lower end gpu and cpu such as the 7770 with a 965, im sure that a 500 to 600 watt power supply should be perfect. I think 500w should be enough. but if you are considering upgrading your computer or overclocking in the future i suggest you get a better psu. and as for the motherboard, make sure you get an am3+ socket motherboard, because all the new amd cpus use that

I'm going to be using a Foxconn A78AX 3.0 ATX AM3 Motherboard. and no optical drive that will lower the price to $363.85.  For upgrading I plan on using a Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU. But that will be when I can't play games other than Minecraft and Blockland.

i suggest getting am3+ instead of am3, just so you have more upgrade potential in the future

there kinda more expensive that was the only am3, atx, 4 slot, 8gb mother board under 70 dollars. But I'll go change it.
