1gb is enough, and you cannot sli a 500 series with a 600 series
Fully aware of this, i didnt know if those were his current specs or parts he wanted to buy.
I would still recommend he get a 600+ series with at least 2gb of ram.

sli'd 560 will beat any other card for that price
i mean i recommend him getting quadruple 780 ti's but whats the point if he can't afford it?!?

I'm buying a new computer finally soon and was wondering if you could finish up this list to pristine perfection that all you guys are known for.
Also my budget is $800 please don't go over it.

Intel I7 4820k:

OCZ Vertex 4 128GB:

Corsair Obsidian:

I know i'm missing the graphics card, fans and maybe an heat sink? Please try to find a cheaper motherboard and SSD. I would also like to find a new case too, preferably a well built case (not plastic). That looks like the corsair obsidian (via glass window, simple front), cheaper if possible.
I'm not overclocking anytime soon so no extreme coolers and stuff.

I would like to be able to play games like Blockland on max/high with ss possibly, Minecraft on normal & fancy and SimCity on medium/high (seems resource heavy right?) all at 30 fps. No more over 350 on the gpu please since 350 sounds reasonable for a modern gpu right?

oh man I feel p. bad at making you guys find parts for me.
I'm going to be selling my Cooler Master GeminII M4 soon on eBay, I can honestly say it's a great heatsink cooler, kept my FX-6300 under 40 deg. C at all times and has only been used for like 2 months. I'm selling it cause I think I'll be upgrading to a FX-8350 so I wanted to give watercooling a try, so I'm gonna get a Corsair H55. It'll probably go up cheap, I'll post a link here to the other stuff I'm also selling in the future.

get z87 instead of x79

Did anyone work on an up-to-date example build list? If not I can work on one, its no big deal. Just curious.

Also any suggestions on what to do to the thread? Let me know.

Thanks after taking a look at the z87 newegg doesn't sell any with a lga 2011 socket. Should I change the cpu to an i5 4670k here:

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.aspx?sku=583302

since it's an haswell and only 1mhz less then the i7 4820k while it being 70 bucks less.

Do amd heat sinks work on intel ones too I thought they plugged in to the socket or something like that. I'll go take a look at it thanks. Looks excellent I guess I'll get it if the i5 and/or the i7 doesn't come with an heat sink or a good one. Also are you buying the upgraded one since it has an upgraded one on newegg for the same price.

I did and posted it, but it's guaranteed to be out of date now

Why don't the people that are posted in the OP each make suggestions for a build and work on it together so we can compile a list?

yes, the z87 chipset is newer than x79, plus youll be able to have the next-gen broadwell line of cpus in a few years

Takes too long, price tiers become muddled if different people do different ones because of personal preference (more gpu power, etc)

What we should do is have one person submit all the starting suggestions, then everyone critiques. The only problem is that I've done that twice now and nobody bothers to critique it.

Well, technically it's newer but that doesn't make a difference. First of all, nobody is going to change from haswell to broadwell unless they're rich as forget, there aren't going to enough significant changes to justify it. And if they're rich as forget, chances are they have X79 mobo because they have an i7-4970X

This. On the subject of actually getting the 4820k, it's really not worth it. If you have ~$350 to blow on a cpu, get a 4770k or 3770k + an aftermarket cooler. Unless you know for a fact that you'll benefit from having 12 logical processor cores, Ivy Bridge-E simply isn't worth what you're paying for

spending 300 on a cpu, then upgrading to a newer one a few years later while selling your old one on ebay or something like that would only require you probably 100 bucks, which isnt that much compared to the ultra i7 series. plus the broadwell family is switching to the 14nm process which might bring significant improvement.

I don't really want to blow $350 on a cpu that I can't use to its full potential. I guess I could get the 4770k as an upgrade. Or do you think I should get that and its compatible motherboard instead of the i5?

Also I am having problems with the computer I am using currently. Like on certain animated stuff like youtube videos, screensavers and other stuff. Like every 2 frames it like halts on the 3rd frame then continues playing like this --|--|--|--|--|--|--|-- it is super annoying. Don't know what I should do flash seems up to date.

get a i5 4670k for 230 instead
