Okay, since now I'm finally asking for help after much long searching on google, my processor keeps randomly freezing and my computer just freezes to a halt, most of the time it occures for about 10-30 seconds. I open task manager and it just freezes for like 30 seconds, then finally responds. It happens all the time, even when I re-installed windows. Any ideas?
I cant find anywhere why this occurs, and it only happens in windows, not linux

Is it a partition? I had a lot of trouble when I had a ubuntu partition on my windows with slowing and freezing, wouldn't surprise me if the same were true backwards

My brother wants the computer to boot up fast which is why I'm getting both hard drives.
but is it really worth the extra? my 2tb caviar black boots up in 30 seconds and its completely perfect for me

I don't get all the craze with booting up quickly. I mean, most people seem to never even turn their computers off very often... Now yes, I understand that an SSD will make apps and stuff open faster, but why does everyone get so excited about boot times? Even if you shut down your computer every day, that's just a few seconds time you'll save with the SSD...
Pageloss...

I bought a new PSU (Corsair TX) and I was wondering if 650 watts will be sufficient for the Sapphire 280X R9 (Not planning to overclock or crossfire).

It happens when I don't have a distro on my computer too.

that psu is extremely overkill

also this is a slightly cheaper but better gpu

Not if I crossfire two r9 series radeon cards @ ~500w each, which I may do.

I just heard the r9 can get really loud, which is why I am seeing what others recommend.  Btw, thanks for the suggestion but I am looking for something that I won't have to upgrade for a while, and something that is significantly better than my current gpu.

A 650w is plenty

edit: you're right only if you're going for the absolute highest end cards

with this
Its really odd though, It freezes most of the time with Virtualbox and when I OC'd my processor it started running like trash and loving over a lot of the time
I know when I first got the parts to the computer that the ram was defective and we had to get it swapped but idk
I think it might be my CPU

I myself only have a 1 tb hdd. But for me logging in takes forever and then all the applications are slow as forget for the first 5 minutes. My brother wants a computer thats extremely fast to begin with so I think an SSD and HDD would be best for him.

because you have a low-grade hdd. fast hdd's, like the wd2003fzex, boot up fast and applications run fast. but w/e

Alright, I've been monitoring my CPU MHz frequency and I've noticed something. Sometimes it will go to 3900MHz when its suppose to top off at 3800MHz, the lowest frequency I have ever seen it go is 1400MHz (1399 to be exact), it won't go any lower.
Any clue on why it is like that? I know it self-throttles itself but I'm wondering why it goes that high and why it can't go a single bit lower than 1399.

You computer will start up slow if you have apps like Skype and steam start up when you turn it on. My 2 tb seagate boots up in around 30 seconds.

That's the way that cpus work, sleep states and etc. Keeps your computer from always drawing power when it doesn't need to
