I think I just broke my mechanical keyboard :(

I was enjoying ramen when I somehow spilled it all over the right side. I immediately unplugged it and wiped it off, and let it set for a few minutes. It's now not working.

What you should've done is quickly unplug and turn it upside down and let it dry on it's own.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking.

I'm doing that now, but it's not looking good.

Right so I have a choice between:

Gainward GTX780 Phantom GLH
EVGA GTX 780 Superclocked ACX
Palit GeForce GTX 780 Jetstream
OR one of the non-ref R9 290's (When they release in a week or so)

Which one would you guys recommend?

Gainward GTX780 Phantom GLH

i've been using a rig from 2010 for a vast variety of purposes but as of recently (due to me beginning to art on a more regular basis, running many programs simultaneously) it's not been able to keep up with the stress of my system

AMD phenom II x4 945 3GHz quad core processor
Sapphire 100293L Radeon 5520 graphics card
Gigabyte GA-785 GMTUSB3 AM3 AMD 785g motherboard
4 gigs of ram (as that is what the motherboard will support)

i'm looking to upgrade soon, got a budget of something like 400$ to 500$. got any suggestions? the purposes i've got in mind are gaming and development, maybe video editing and recording (via fraps?) on the side

i only have a vague idea of what all those parts mean, but i know i don't need to upgrade my hard drive as i got a 2 terabyte one recently. i also plan to borrow someone's copy of windows 7 and upgrade some point soon

Upgrade the GPU definitely.

Also RAM speed?
You could upgrade to 8GB of RAM
Code: [Select]
Support for DDR3 1800 (OC)/1666/1333/1066 MHz memory modules1666? I suppose they mean 1600 which you could get a good brand of and overclock to 1800.

And for the video recording part, for that you need a good HDD with good speeds which I assume your 2tb one is.

Upgrading the RAM would be perfect, if only your mobo would support. Replacing the motherboard is an option, though.

That and the Graphics card.

So guys, after letting my keyboard dry over night, here's the keys that now work:

Is there any way to save the other keys?

My keyboard doesn't have a numpad, I never use that thing anyway.

EDIT: A weird thing just happened, all my keys suddenly worked, now the keyboard is auto-muting my sound and holding the caps lock button down.

Submerge your keyboard in rice and leave it there for an hour. All water will be gone.

I didn't think that actually worked, I'll have to go out and buy some rice, thanks.

Everything now works except the top row, after letting it sit a bit longer. The sooner I can stop using this stuffty keyboard the better.

can someone reccomend a keyboard that is less than 20 or 30 dollars?

Any keyboard under $30 is going to be pretty bad; it's going to break in the next few months, anyway. I, personally, am using a Logitech K120 that I got from a computer that was hit by lightning. Surprising sturdy. I'd recommend it. $10.

Logitech K120

I strongly concur. For a $10 keyboard this thing will take a lot.

Just don't expect any features beyond a keyboard.
