for gaming, I would say yes, but for development you'd need a slightly better processor

it really depends on what games you're going to be playing, i run all my games perfectly fine with an i3 and appreciate the faster speed doing ordinary stuff

however games are starting to require 4 cores, so even if the games run faster on an i3 now it'll soon be irrevelant when it comes to triple a games (which i don't really play so that's ok with me)

In most cases, yes. The two extra cores generally help outperform a dual core on newer games, though that's not always the case. If the game only supports 1 or 2 cores then the faster dual core will likely outperform. It really depends on the use.

my friend upgraded from a single 650, to dual 760s (4g's)

we attempted to keep in the 650 as a dedicated physX card.
and it works pretty well XD
i heard about people doing it but i didnt think it was that compatible.

I'm pretty sure your GPU won't freeze or shutdown your computer, you just won't have a display. Try checking the connections on your GPU. You can also get some software that tells you the temperature of your GPU so you know if it's really hot or not.

Would anyone know the real problem as to why I just sometimes freeze? Could it be the possibility of not enough ram? What DOES happen when your ram is being used up 100%? Doesn't the harddrive start acting as "ram?"

Well yes, it does, that's what's called a page file. But that wouldn't cause your game to freeze. What game is it, in particular?
